Tourism Month 2023

#TourismMonth2023 - As the North West is the official host of 2023 Tourism Month, the Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille will launch Tourism Month on 1 August 2023 in Rustenburg, under the UNWTO World Tourism Day theme: "Tourism and Green Investments.”


Tourism Month is celebrated annually in September to highlight South Africa's diverse tourism offerings as well as the sector's significant contribution to the local economy and job creation. Inspired by the UNWTO, World Tourism Day celebrations on 27 September, Tourism Month provides a platform for the South African sector to celebrate, reflect and commemorate its milestones in relation to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Tourism Month festivities are held throughout the country, culminating with the World Tourism Day celebrations on 27 September 2023. This event will be hosted by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Fish Mahlalela, at Hartbeestpoort in the North West Province under the localised theme: "Tourism invests in a green future".

The Sho't Left Travel Week will also return during theTourism Month 2023. South Africans can access discounted travel deals from 4 until 10 September 2023 on www.shotleft.co.za

For nature lovers, South African National Parks (SANParks) will present its 18th annual SA National Parks Week from 16 to 24 September 2023. The week grants free access to most of the 21 national parks for day visitors, especially to people from communities adjacent to national parks.
