​​YOUTH SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ADVERTS

Skills Development Programmes are a critical element that contribute to the success of the tourism sector. An adequately skilled workforce ensures world class service levels are maintained within the tourism value chain, and also assure an enhanced visitor experience.

The Department’s Youth Skill Development Programmes are informed by the broader objectives of the National Tourism Sector Strategy that addresses skills shortages in the tourism sector by capacitating unemployed youth and graduates.

The Department is currently implementing various training programmes to enhance and upskill the youth to make a meaningful contribute to the economy of the country. The following can be applied for currently:

1.    FOOD SAFETY ASSURERS SKILLS PROGRAMME
The Department of Tourism invites youth from KwaZulu-Natal to apply for the Food Safety Assurers Skills Training Programme. This 12-month programme is targeted at unemployed youth to widen employment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Stipend:         The beneficiary shall receive a daily stipend of R150
Requirements:

  • Applicants should be between the age of 18-35
  • Matric with fluency in English or with preferably a Tourism and Hospitality Qualification (provide certified copies of certificates)
  • CV must be accompanied by a motivational letter
  •  Certified ID copy
  • Proof of residence, and any other relevant certificate/s
  • Beneficiaries who have previously participated in the Department’s learnership or skills programmes should declare in the motivational letter

2.    PROFESSIONAL COOKERY PROGRAMME
The Department of Tourism invites youth from the North West Province to apply for the Professional Cookery Programme. This 12-month programme is targeted at unemployed youth to widen employment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Stipend: The beneficiary shall receive a daily stipend of R150

  •  Applicants should be between the age of 18-35
