President Jacob Zuma urges public to support police and welcome visitors during festive season

President Jacob Zuma has extended his full support to the law enforcement agencies in their tasks of ensuring that members of the public enjoy themselves at all holiday venues during the festive season.

Many South African and visitors are already on their way to various holiday destinations in the country.

“We have directed the police, traffic officers and all in the criminal justice system to help ensure that there is safety and security during the festive season. We urge the public to support them in the execution of their duties. We extend our support and good wishes to all our law enforcement officers throughout the country. They will be working long hours as they protect the nation,” said President Zuma.

The President also extended his good wishes and support to health professionals and emergency care workers, all of whom also work long hours during the festive season due to the unfortunate road crashes and other emergencies which require urgent attention.

The President has also extended a warm welcome to international visitors who  come to South Africa during the festive season to enjoy the South African summer, beautiful scenery and top class facilities.

“We urge South Africans to show visitors the warm hospitality that we are known for and make their visit pleasant and memorable. Tourists contribute immensely to economic growth and job creation.

They also serve to market our country when they go home,” said President Zuma.
