#MandelaMonth – Deputy Minister of Tourism Mr. Fish Mahlalela will host an Imbizo with the community in Nkomazi - Mpumalanga to commemorate the 10th anniversary of International Nelson Mandela Day.
Themed “Action against poverty,” the Imbizo will seek to implore the community to make every day a Mandela Day through sustainable interventions that inspire change, and create long-term impact within their communities.
The 2019 International Mandela Day theme “Action against poverty,” calls on the world to join hands and collaboratively effect sustainable interventions against poverty. Interventions should address issues around Education and Literacy, Food and Nutrition, Shelter, Sanitation and Active Citizenship that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Deputy Minister Mahlalela will also utilise the engagement to encourage the community to actively participate in the Department’s incentivised funding initiatives, as well as the Skills and Enterprise Development programmes that will contribute to building sustainable tourism economies in rural nodes.
