Western Cape learners to graduate as Blue Flag Beach Stewards
Deputy Minister Elizabeth Thabethe will officiate a graduation ceremony to honour learners from Overstrand, Hessequa, Mossel Bay, Bitou Local Municipality, Knysna and the Eden Garden Route District Municipality who successfully completed Tourism’s Blue Flag Training Programme.
Implemented in partnership with Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA), the Blue Flag Training Programme capacitates unemployed youth as Beach Stewards who provide assistance in maintaining high standards of safety, environmental management, water quality and environmental education at Blue Flag sites.

The fifty one (51) learners will receive NQF level 5 certificates in Environmental Education Training and Development Practices, accredited by the Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP-SETA).
