​Tomorrow, 23 April 2024, Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille will engage matric pupils from various Mitchells Plain schools on career and training opportunities in the tourism sector. 

The outreach event will take place at Portland High School with hundreds of matric pupils who are currently taking tourism as a subject.

Minister de Lille and representatives from the private sector such as the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA), the South African Association for the Conference Industry, and the hospitality sector will share important information with pupils on the wide array of career and training opportunities in tourism as well as bursary opportunities for pupils wishing to enter the tourism sector once they have completed their school career. 

The tourism sector is key economic driver and one of the most exciting sectors which is constantly growing and evolving. It provides a range of work opportunities for young people from the transport sector, tour operators, hospitality and the conference and events sectors to name a few. 

The tourism sector encourages creativity and innovation and makes a positive economic impact in many communities across the country. The sector is well poised for young people to enter into and make their mark.

Matric pupils from Aloe, Portland, Woodlands, Darul Arqam Islamic, Mitchell's Plain High Schools will be in attendance at the outreach event.
