KwaZulu-Natal chefs to graduate from the department’s Recognition of Prior Learning Programme


KWAZULU-NATAL – On the 23 February 2024, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Fish Mahlalela, will oversee the graduation ceremony to honour 25 Chefs from the KwaZulu-Natal province who successfully completed the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme. 

 

 

The RPL programme addresses the skills and career progression needs in the tourism sector by recognising the prior learning of chefs, and awarding them the relevant occupational qualification and designation. 

 

The programme was first implemented in the 2021/2022 financial year. Since its introduction, the Department of Tourism has invested R3.1 million in the programme and has reached 107 experienced chefs in Gauteng, Limpopo, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
