Minister of Tourism, Mr Derek Hanekom, will officially launch and handover tourism facilities built by the Department at the Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge - Free State.
The Minister will also engage with the local community on issues pertaining to tourism development, and progress with regards to the National Development Plan (NDP).
The Department promotes the growth of tourism products through infrastructure developments under its Social Responsibility Implementation (SRI) projects that are funded under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).
The Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge is a Heritage site that preserves and sustains the Batlokoa culture. The tourism facilities were constructed with the view of driving more tourists to the area. It is envisaged that the facilities will create employment opportunities, develop a vibrant, equitable and sustainable local economy that will assist the local community to share in the benefits of tourism.
