Africa’s Travel Indaba will take place at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) in the KwaZulu-Natal Province from 02 to 05 May 2022. 

 

Themed ‘Africa’s Stories, Your Success’ the 2022 Indaba will showcase a wide variety of Southern Africa's top tourism products and services, and afford delegates an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the exciting travel experiences on offer. 

 

Africa’s Travel Indaba is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar, and one of the top three event of its kind on the global calendar. It has won the accolades as Africa’s best travel and tourism show awarded by the Association of World Travel Awards. 


Industry players and stakeholders will have an opportunity to meet, engage and share with the world inspiring stories of resilience shown throughout the pandemic.  


DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM EVENTS AT AFRICA’S TRAVEL INDABA 2022

 

TOUR OPERATOR HOSTED BUYER SPEED NETWORKING SESSION: The Department will host a speed networking session for tour operators to as part of its Tour Operator incubation programme. The session will afford tour operators an opportunity to engage, network and chart their success as the sector works towards tourism recovery.

ADVANCING TRANSFORMATION IN THE TOURISM SECTOR: The Department will join the Tourism Transformation Council of South Africa (TTCSA) for a dialogue with sector stakeholders on advancing ‘Tourism Transformation in Rural Areas, Small Towns and Townships’. The dialogue will share ideas on how to drive transformation in marginalised communities.

ADVANCING COMMUNITY BASED TOURISM: The Department will host a stakeholder consultation session on its revised Framework for Community Participation in Tourism (FCPT). The framework is a key component of the Department’s commitment to facilitating increased community participation in tourism in the sectors value chain.

NATIONAL TOURISM CAREERS EXPO (NTCE) BUSINESS NETWORKING SESSION: The Gauteng  Province, in partnership with the Department and CATHSSETA will host the NTCE Business Networking session at Africa’s Travel Indaba. Deputy Minister Fish Mahlalela will address  industry players and stakeholders, and rally their support and participation at the 2022 Career Expo.

LAUNCH OF THE FOOD SERVICES INCUBATION PROGRAMME: Deputy Minister Fish Mahlalela will launch the Food Service Incubator Programme at Africa’s Travel Indaba. This initiative will empower young entrepreneurs, chefs’ sommeliers and baristas with business development skills that will assure their growth and sustainability in the sector.
