The Department of Tourism will host its 2023 Tourism Research Seminar in Pretoria on 24 March 2023 under the theme: “Advancing tourism growth and development through research: phase of recovery and building resilience”. 

The Research Seminar takes place on an annual basis to disseminate research findings and recommendations to stakeholders in order to enhance strategies, planning, programmes, policy and decision-making within the tourism sector. 

The following research topics will be presented: 

• The piloting and refining of the domestic tourism remodelling model – University of Pretoria;
• The piloting and refinement of the domestic tourism recovery framework – University of KZN;
• Socio-economic and environmental impacts of COVID-19 on domestic tourism in South Africa: Challenges and opportunities to transition to a more sustainable and resilient sector – University of KZN; and 
• The piloting and refinement of the tourism resilience model – North West University and University of Venda
