Purpose
To provide strategic political and policy direction for the development and growth of sustainable domestic tourism throughout South Africa.
Functions
Provide strategic political and policy direction for domestic tourism in South Africa’s Southern region;
Provide strategic political and policy direction for domestic tourism in South Africa’s Northern region;
Facilitate the development of tourism infrastructure projects under the Expanded Public Works Programme through the use of labour intensive methods targeting the unemployed, youth, women, the people living with disability and SMMEs.
Strategic objectives of the Branch:
To facilitate the implementation of appropriate support packages for regions;
To facilitate the implementation of national tourism imperatives;
To provide support to SMME for economic development and job creation and
Create employment opportunities by implementing tourism projects targeted at the unemployed.
