Tourism wishes from the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Tokozile Xasa
Deputy Minister Tokozile Xasa

As 2015 draws to a close, we as the Tourism family would like to extend our warmest wishes to the nation, the continent and our international visitors and to say thank you for making tourism the successful sector that it is.

After a year of working hard, now is the time for relaxation, reflection, celebrations and holiday festivities.  Whatever it is that you plan to do, our amazing country has something for everyone.  From hotels to homestays to visiting family and friends to spending time with your loved ones.  Look around you and see all the tourism attractions just waiting for you.

For the adrenalin junkies, we have a score of adventure attractions. For those looking for some quiet time out, our beaches and nature reserves offer balm for the soul.  For those looking for fun, our array of night life, restaurants and flea markets offer the perfect feel good factor. If you don’t have anything special planned, we encourage you to engage in culture and heritage tourism.  Immerse yourself in our diverse culture as our people are our greatest assets.  We encourage South Africans to take a Sho’t Left and visit our diverse tourist attractions.  Discover our country and its hidden treasures.

Like any destination in the world, we urge you to be safe. Drive carefully and be safe on the roads this season.  Look after our children this festive season.  Practice responsible tourism and treasure our resources like water, guard against accidently causing fires that can ravage our flora and fauna.  Be mindful of your carbon footprint – so that we preserve our attractions for future generations.

From our family to yours, we wish you peace and joy this season.  To South Africans, enjoy our beautiful country and continue to make our visitors feel welcome and at home. To our neighbours from the continent and international visitors, enjoy the warmth and hospitality of our people and we wish you many happy returns.
