Youth graduate from National Food Safety and Quality Assurers Training Programme
The Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Free-State Province will host a graduation ceremony to honour learners from Bloemfontein and Kimberly who participated in the National Food Safety Assurers Youth Training Programme.  

Minister Derek Hanekom, will officiate the ceremony where learners will receive Food and Beverage Seta (Foodbev Seta) accredited certificates in NQF level qualification in the practices related to the manufacturing, storage and processing of food in the hospitality industry.   

In the 2017/2018 financial year, the Department of Tourism approved the training of 500 learners as Food Safety Assurers nationwide. The learners enrolled in a programme comprising of 30% theory and 70% practical training, and 28 that will be graduating were placed at various hospitality establishments within the Free State and Northern Cape Provinces for workplace experiential learning.

The graduation ceremony will conclude with an Imbizo, affording the Minister and the Executive from Mangaung Metro an opportunity to engage with the community on the tourism opportunities that are available in the sector for the youth, women and entrepreneurs.
