KwaZulu-Natal Young Chefs Graduate from Tourism Programme with International Accreditation

The Department of Tourism, through its Social Responsibility Implementation (SRI) Programme, will host a graduation ceremony to honour KwaZulu-Natal learners who participated in the National Youth Chefs Training Programme (NYCTP) Training.

Deputy Minister Elizabeth Thabethe will officiate the graduation ceremony where 89 learners will receive internationally recognised Certificates and Diplomas in Professional Cookery, and advanced Diplomas in Pastry - accredited by City and Guilds.

The Department approved the training of 577 learners from all provinces in culinary skills from June 2015 to April 2017.  During the training period learners were placed at various Hospitality establishments across the country for workplace training.

The graduation will be followed by an Imbizo with the local community. The Imbizo will create awareness about the Department’s initiatives and opportunities, and will educate the community about the I DO TOURISM marketing campaign.
