Africa's Travel Indaba

Africa’s Travel Indaba will take place at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) in the KwaZulu-Natal Province from 08 to 10 May 2018. 

Themed, Africa’s Stories, Your Success”, Africa’s Travel Indaba showcases the widest variety of Southern Africa's best tourism products and services, and afford delegates an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the exciting travel experiences on offer - with a view of forging dynamic tourism partnerships. 

Indaba is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar and one of the top three ‘must visit’ events of its kind on the global calendar. It has won the accolades as Africa’s best travel and tourism show awarded by the Association of World Travel Awards.

DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM EVENTS AT AFRICA’S TRAVEL INDABA 2018

Africa’s Travel Indaba offers industry players and its stakeholders an opportunity to meet and engage on the challenges and opportunities that affect the advancement of tourism on the continent.  

The Department of Tourism will host the following events prior and during Africa’s Travel Indaba 2018:  

IORA WORKSHOP ON COASTAL AND MARINE TOURISM:  Deputy Minister Elizabethe will address member states of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) at a workshop aimed at identifying opportunities for entrepreneurship and best practices concerning the advancement of Coastal and Marine Tourism on the African continent.

5TH INDABA MINISTERIAL SESSION: Themed - “Integrated Regional Tourism – A Tool For Economic Development” the event will afford African Ministers, key industry players and tourism stakeholders an opportunity to deliberate on how  regional and continental cooperation can address the challenges that stunt the growth and sustainability of tourism on the African continent.

INAUGURAL TOURISM INVESTMENT SEMINAR: Minister Derek Hanekom will address delegates at the inaugural Tourism Investment Seminar. The seminar will share insight on the lucrative investment opportunities that exist in South Africa’s tourism industry, and link outbound tour operators with the domestic project owners.

NATIONAL TOURISM CAREERS EXPO (NTCE) NETWORKING SESSION:  The North West Province will host the NTCE in partnership with the Department of Tourism and CATHSSETA from 28 to 30 September 2018. The NTCE highlights careers and professional opportunities that are available in the tourism industry to learners and students. The networking session will provide insight to industry players on how they can support and participate in the NTCE.
