Gauteng learners to receive accreditation in the field of Resource Efficient Cleaner Production (RECP)
The Department of Tourism in partnership with the National Cleaner Production Centre – South Africa (NCPC – SA) will host a certification ceremony for Gauteng learners who successfully completed the Department’s Tourism Resource Efficiency Training Programme.

Initiated in 2013, the Tourism Resources Efficiency Programme (TREP) was developed considering the importance of sustainable development in tourism, and to create capacity among the youth to be upskilled on the promotion of energy efficiency, water-use efficiency and proper waste management in the sector.

Learners from the Gauteng province will be receiving their accreditation and will be certified as Resource Efficient Cleaner Production (RECP)  Practitioners who  specialise in four thematic areas namely: Energy, Water, Materials & Waste and Carbon Management.

The TREP forms part of the greater objectives of the National Tourism Sector Strategy that promotes responsible tourism practices in the sector.
