Africa’s Travel Indaba (ATI) will take place at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Province from 08 to 11 May 2023. The trade show showcases the widest variety of Southern Africa's best tourism products and services, and afford delegates an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the exciting travel experiences on offer - with a view of forging dynamic tourism partnerships.
The ATI is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar and one of the top three ‘must visit’ events of its kind on the global calendar. It has won the accolades as Africa’s best travel and tourism show awarded by the Association of World Travel Awards.

DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM EVENTS AT AFRICA’S TRAVEL INDABA
Africa’s Travel Indaba offers industry players and its stakeholders an opportunity to meet and engage on the challenges and opportunities that affect the advancement of tourism on the continent. The Department of Tourism will host the following events prior and during Africa’s Travel Indaba 2023:
1) TOURISM DIALOGUE – The Tourism Dialogue provides a platform for African Tourism Ministers, policy makers, stakeholders and experts from the tourism sector to share ideas and to discuss issues impacting tourism on the African continent. The Dialogue will also discuss the opportunities of BRICS for South Africa and the African continent.

2) AFRICA’S TRAVEL INDABA OPENING - The official opening will be conducted by the Minister of Tourism Patricia De Lille.

3) THE NATIONAL TOURISM CAREER EXPO (NTCE) BUSINESS NETWORKING SESSION - Deputy Minister of Tourism Fish Mahlalela will address NTCE stakeholders and tourism business owners in a bid to encourage their participation at the 2023 NTCE. The NTCE draws in thousands of youth to explore the potential career opportunities that exist in the sector.

4) TOUR OPERATORS’ INCUBATOR PROGRAMME – Deputy Minister Fish Mahlalela will acknowledge emerging tour operators who successfully completed the Department’s Tour Operator Business Incubator programme. This event will celebrate the achievements of the 44 incubates as they work to grow sustainable operations.

5) TOURISM TECHNOLOGY INNOVATOR’S SHOWCASE - Youth who participated in the Department’s Tourism Technology Grassroots Innovation Incubator Programme (TTGIIP) will showcase their prototypes at Africa’s Travel Indaba. The showcase will highlight how technology and innovation can be utilised to drive investment and stimulate new opportunities that can enhance services and experiences in tourism.

6) WOMEN IN TOURISM INDABA NETWORKING BREAKFAST - The event will provide a platform for women in the industry to network, and rally behind the initiatives that will increase their participation and recognition in the tourism sector.

7) HIDDEN GEMS PAVILION – Explore the Hidden Gems Pavilion and meet the 122 tourism SMMEs showcasing their products. The SMMEs participated in various initiatives under the Department’s Enterprise Development and Support programme to expand their businesses, and showcase their offerings at various domestic and international trade shows.
