Minister Xasa to attend the Chinese Lighting Ceremony
In celebration of 20th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between China and South Africa, the Minister of Tourism Tokozile Xasa has accepted the invitation by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of South Africa to the Chinese Lighting Ceremony for the 2018 Chinese New Year.  The ceremony will be held at 19:00 on 13 February 2018 at the Mandela Square, Sandton. 

The Minister will deliver a keynote address, which key among other issues, will focus on the importance of tourism co-operation of the growing diplomatic relations between the two countries in the past 19 years as well as the importance of Chinese arrivals to South Africa.  The Minister will also reaffirm the department’s commitment to improve tourism co-operation with China. 

The ceremony will consist of various themes including the lighting up of the great spirit of former President Nelson Mandela, and the friendship and cooperation between China and South Africa. This ceremony is one of a series of celebration for the 20 year diplomatic relations between China and South Africa.
